Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Class Dates: Mondays, August 10, 7, 24 + 31 – 6pm-8:30pm

The Truvy Bag by Knot & Thread is sure to be your new favorite organzier.  Perfect for a cosmetic bag or a sewing notions pouch, Truvy features four vinly zipper pockets to store all of your small essentials. The quilted exterior gives the bags some sturdiness, and the small handles make it a breeze to carry. This project is also great to gift to your favorite sewing buddy or make-up lover.

During this series, students will sew with vinyl material, install sew-in magnetic and metal snaps, and sew a zipper.  This class is suitable for intermediate to advanced level students who have prior quilting, binding, and sewing with zippers experience. Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.

Important Notes:

• There will be homework assigned by the instructor for students to complete at home in between classes.
• All students must have prior binding and sewing with zippers experience in order to take this class. This is more of an advanced level class.
• The first three classes will meet from 6pm-9pm, and the last class will meet from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

Finished Bag Dimensions: 9″ high x 11-1/2″ wide x 6″ deep.

Required Materials:

• (1) Project Kit: Truvy Bag – includes all materials needed to make the project

Alternatively, if you do not wish to purchase a Project Kit, you will need:

• (1) Pattern: Truvy Bag by Knot & Thread
• 3/4 yard of main fabric
• 5/8 yard of lining fabric
• 3/8 yard of vinyl or (1) 13-1/2″ x 54″ piece of vinyl
• 1/2 yard of Pellon SF101
• (1) package of wonder tape (for making binding installation easier)
• (1) 18″ x 26″ piece of Soft & Stable
• (2) 30″ handbag zippers
• (1) 5/8″ set of magnetic snaps
• (2) 5/8″ sets of metal snaps
• (2) spools of coordinating thread

Recommended Fabrics:

• We recommend using quilting cotton for the exterior and lining fabrics.

Required Tools:

• seam ripper
• pins and/or wonder clips
• chalk and/or frixion marker
