Description

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Dates:

  • June Session: Sunday, June 14 – 12pm-4pm
  • August Session: Sunday, August 23 – 12pm-4pm

Skip the store-bought tablecloth and whip one up yourself using a serger! With just a few yards of fabric and our trusty Janome MyLock 545D overlock machine, you will create a beautiful, patchwork tablecloth with completely finished seams that won’t fray and is machine washable.

During this 4-hour class, students will learn how to convert the machine to a rolled hem stitch to easily and quickly finish the raw edges of the tablecloth.

The finished tablecloth measures approximately 73″ x 73″ and fits round tables up to 60″ in diameter or small square/rectangular tables.  This class is open to all level of students who have prior sewing experience.  Prior serger experience is not required, but highly helpful!

Required Materials:

  • (1) Pattern: Two-Hour Tablecloth by Studio M Squared – included in the cost of class and will be provided to students for free!
  • 1-1/4 yards for main fabric
  • 1-5/8 yards for inner border fabric
  • 2-1/8 yards for outer border fabric

Recommended Fabrics:

  • We recommend using non-directional quilting cotton for this project. Directional prints are NOT recommended for the border fabrics due to the nature of the cutting layouts.

Required Tools:

  • fabric scissors or rotary cutter
  • (1) 6″ x 24″ acrylic ruler
  • seam ripper
  • pins and/or wonder clips
  • chalk and/or frixion marker
